Oakland Living Hummingbird Table Plant Stand in Antique Bronze Review

The stand is cast iron with an antique bronze finish, and is very attractive. It is quite heavy so there is little risk of it tipping over even if you place a heavy pot on it. But there was a problem with mine that required a fix before I could assemble it. The legs are cast with holes to allow the attachment of the legs to the top of the stand. The top is drilled and tapped with two threaded holes at each of the four corners. The hardware includes threaded brass studs that go in the holes, and then you mount the legs to the studs using a flat washer, lock washer and nut. On mine each set of holes was spaced differently. It appeared from numbered stickers next to the holes that the factory in China tried to match specific legs to specific pairs of holes. Only two of the legs would fit; the other two pairs of stud holes were too close together. Rather than send everything back (especially because I like its appearance), I used a rat-tail file to make the holes in the legs oval so that the studs could pass through them. By the time I finished the holes were nearly twice the width of the studs along a line connecting the holes. Fortunately the washers were large enough and the kinetics of the mount were secure enough that the connection is solid. I must say that I am getting tired of this kind of slop. I had the same experience recently with outdoor light fixtures from China. I wish companies that sell products like this would inspect them before shipping so we didn't have to deal with it.

Style of chair is nice but wish it was darker. Color is okay. Biggest problem is with assembly. Bolts shorted and screw holes stripped.
