I was looking for logsplitters, and saw these and Cub Cadets on display at local dealers. I thought that it was peculiar that all of these splitters were in a vertical position. I asked one dealer to drop the splitter in a horizontal position, to which he replied "Why". I replied that I don't want to spend the day on my knees, and that I split almost all my wood in a horizontal position. He basically told me that I was nuts, and reluctantly put the splitter in the horizontal position. I now know why they don't display them horizontally. You would have to straddle the tire to use the splitter horizontally. The tire and axle/hydraulic tank are right where you need to stand. I can't believe that MTD (parent company) would design something so poorly. Buy a Timberwolf. I did........
