Simplicity P1728E Pro 2-Stage Snowblower 1695990 Review

Age: I bought my Signature Pro P1728E to replace my 1986 Ford/Gilson that I sold. It is now going on its 6th season. I see no reason this would not go 20-30 years.

Construction: This machine is extremely well built, perhaps over built. The welds are perfect. The coated nuts and bolts remain rust free. The boxed frame handle bars give it excellent rigidity with no twist/flex. This is a true professional grade machine.

Capability: It has never stalled or plugged up even in the wettest and heaviest snow, even after the city plow drops its present at the end of the drive. My driveway is long and wide. Manufacturers claims of throwing 45' is accurate. As my neighbors about depositing my snow on their driveway and roof!

I've never needed the electric start, since it is still a one pull start.

Repairs in 6 years time: I follow all mfg. recommended maintenance. I have had no problems other than a small spring that broke season 4. I just straightened the next coil and bent a hook into it as a field expedient repair and its still holding. I flipped the skid shoes after the 5th season so a set should last 10 years. The scrapper bars in 30% worn, it should last 15+ years. Belts show no indication of wear yet. All paint remains adhered. No leaks or oil usage. Muffler sounds as new.

Cons: After the heaviest and wettest storms you may feel obligated to do your neighbors driveway to be helpful, but you're really just showing off.
