I have been using this stuff from Scotts for about two years and it does kill the moss for about a couple of months. It seems to turn dark, the indication it is activated, after about a day of rain or watering. I have found that it needs three applicatiions per yer; once at the end of winter, middle of summer and finally at the beginning of winter.

There is nothing to do about moss except kill it when it shows up. The conditions of little/no sunlight and moisture will always attract the moss, so there will always be a need for this stuff.

I have experimented with different applicators, some I fashioned myself, but the best way is to just sling with your hand. You don't have to stand there and patiently let it dribble down. If you have a strip of grass just stand at one end and sling a hand full until it covers the ground and grass. It really does go down on the ground fairly evenly this way.

One other thing I have noticed is that if any moisture gets into the bag, hard clumps will form. Some of these can be just pulverized with your hand but others will need a mallet or hammer to bust them up.
