I had been given an old Homelite Super XL saw. My research showed this saw to be 30-35 years old. It ran well but did not cut well. It seemed that maybe the chain was incorrect for the bar. After consulting with Oregon cutting products, they advised me to get this bar and chain combo set. Amazon had an outstanding price. The bar alone sells for $50 on other sites.

The install took only minutes. I tried cutting some logs with the new set and all I can say is WOW! This bar and chain set made this old saw cut like a beaver on steroids. I had 8 logs about 7-8 feet long and about 12-14 inches in diameter to cut into chunks. I piled up sawdust about 6 inches deep in 10 minutes. This chain rips through wood like it was butter. I was cutting Ash, Hackberry, and Cherry.

You cannot beat the price on a quality Oregon cutting product. As a heads up to anyone needing a set like this, Oregon told me that they will be phasing out replacement parts for these old saws. The age of these old Super XLs means they don't sell much of this product and the line will be dicontinued. With the price on Amazon, get a couple and stock up!
